How to Make Pav Bhaji

Tava Pulao

A dish that is often on the menu along with Pav Bhaji is Tava Pulao. This rice dish also originated on the streets of Mumbai. Street food vendors made this pulao on the same large tava (pan) used to make pav bhaji. This rice contains similar vegetables and rice flavoured with pav bhaji masala. This rice is easy to cook and as delicious as pav bhaji. Cook your favourite pav bhaji vegetables in a dollop of butter. Add spices such as chili, turmeric and pav bhaji masala as per your preferences. Mix pre-cooked rice gently in the vegetable mixture. Serve with some raita and papad.

Spicy Idlis

Have leftover idlis? Pav Bhaji masala makes it possible turn these idlis into a nutritious yet irresistible snack. Make sure you use a nonstick pan while making this so that the idlis don’t stick to the pan. Heat some oil, add finely chopped onions and tomatoes. Sprinkle some turmeric powder and rock salt. Add pav bhaji masala to this once the vegetables are cooked. Make sure you add a generous amount of lemon juice to add some tanginess to the dish. Add idlis and toss them well. Serve with some green chutney.

Pav Bhaji Fondue

Want to infuse some Indian flavours into this rich, cheesy swiss creation? Pav Bhaji masala is the answer. Flavours of the pav bhaji masala blend well with the cheese base of the fondue. Make the bhaji, add cheese and milk to this. Once the mixture cools, blend it in a mixer. Transfer this into a pan, add some cream and heat it for a minute. Serve this fondue with buttered toasts or pav along with your favourite vegetables.
